Hi! I'm Pure Egg. I draw and write things!
I'm not entirely sure what to say, since I don't really know who I'm talking to. I'm an eternally anxious and depressed bean. My memory is terrible. I, uh, jumped ship from Tumblr and I was going to wait for Pillowfort, but a recent rule of theirs is a little too anti-shippy, so I jumped over here instead. Tumblr culture is terrifying; I can't stay there.
I'm a 20yo ace multishipper andmoe blob digital artist. I like books, video games, animation (both Eastern and Western), some of my favorite genres include Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Horror (although gore usually squicks me), and Solar Punk, and specific fandoms I enjoy include Warcraft, assorted RPGMaker games, Mega Man, and Pokémon. Pokémon shipping wank, less so.
I liked My Candy Love before they started charging you for every word that comes out of a character's mouth, and I also liked Artix Entertainment games until the axe rape scene in DragonFable.
I'm usually pretty forgiving of that stuff, but DragonFable had been a family friendly game that I grew up with, and I'm pretty sure their website still says the game is family friendly (last I checked, which was long after the axe rape scene), so that's got to be the opposite of a fair warning. Imagine playing Pokémon but then a random NPC is violently and graphically raped in Lavender Town and the graphics are more close up and detailed too.
Speaking of rape, I'm in the process of writing an IronWillShipping dark fic with an AO rating and clear warnings describing the content contained within, Artix.
Oh, yes, I'm also a salty bean. Lots of salt. Also apparently hitting enter in the tags automatically posts your entry instead of separating your tags, so uh... whoops. Tune in for Part II?
Part II
Anyway... sometimes gross or terrifying thoughts enter my head and I can't get them out, but dark fiction, for me, is a way to take my mind off of scary real things and instead focus on the scary fictional things. It depends on the time, depends on my state of mind and what sort of terrified I am, but I'd much rather be thinking about terrible things happening to fictional characters than terrible things happening to me.
Which is why I really don't appreciate it when a video game that had been comforting to me for a decade suddenly turns into a horror game when I really don't need horror at that moment. It's something I'm prepared for with RPGMaker Horror or M-rated fanworks. It's not something I expected from DragonFable.
